Riverheart Parkland
A fantastic place to take advantage of the great outdoors, the parkland is situated on a 1.2km stretch of southern bank of the Bremer River, from the Bradfield Bridge to Bob Gamble Park.
At Bob Gamble Park, on the eastern side of the parklands, kids will love the zero-depth water playground, extensive play equipment including a spider web style climbing frame, 25 metre flying fox and the football field sized ‘Discovery Forest’ which incorporates features including forts, a bridge across a dry creek bed, carved wooden totems and balance beams.
The parkland offers wheelchair and pram friendly boardwalks for walkers, joggers, cyclists and others on the move, and is a great place to discover different vantage points of the river. While there, it’s worth reading the information plaques about the fascinating history of the city that was once slated to be Queensland’s capital but missed out because the river wasn’t deep or wide enough for shipping.
At night, keep your eyes on the water to see if you can spot the laser projections of our very own river creatures: Ippy, Limey & Stoney.
Car parking is available at the far eastern (Blackall Street) and western (Roseberry Parade) entries to the parkland. Dogs are welcome to accompany their owners if they are on a leash.
